Valley Jr. Warriors defensemen Matt Gulack has committed to Johnson and Wales University for the 2018-19 season.
Gulack joined the Warriors this past 2017-18 season. In his short 10 games with the Warriors, he put up 6 assists.
Head coach Andy Heinze thinks Gulack will be a good asset to his new team.
“He’s a good player, Johnson and Wales will get a player that has the skill and ability to be very successful at their level,” said Heinze.
Although his time with the Warriors was short, Gulack adapted well to the team and made his presence on the ice known.
Gulack says his time in the EHL helped him mature both as a player and as a person.
“Playing in the EHL was a great experience. There were always college coaches watching our games. The coaching I got from Coach Heinze really helped me develop into a better defenseman. This season in the EHL really helped me become better on and off the ice, and really prepared me to go to college and become a student-athlete,”
Gulack extended his thanks to everyone who helped him achieve his goals along the way.
“I would like to thank my teammates, coaches, my advisor Will McNally, my trainer Phil Meade, and everyone in my family especially my parents! Thank you Coach Lacour for this opportunity to play hockey and get a great education. I can’t wait to attend JWU and be a Wildcat!”
