Haverhill, MA – Valley Jr. Warrior EHL defensemen Owen Schiffmann has committed to Stonehill College for the 2018-19 season.
This was Schiffmann’s first season with the Warriors and in junior hockey. Schiffmann came over from the Boston Advantage program. He put up 2 goals and 15 assists for 17 points in his 45 games with the Warriors.
The 6-foot-3 defensemen used the combination of his large frame and skill to make himself known in the EHL and draw the attention of college coaches.
“His progression was great this year. He was definitely one of our top power play guys. He has good size and overall his skating ability and stick skills were solid. I think it was the mental part of the game that he had to progress with and he did that,” head coach Andy Heinze said.
Although he only played one season here, Schiffmann took full advantage of that year and his quick progression has helped lead him to the point of college hockey.
“My year in the EHL allowed me to become a more complete player as well as person, it allowed me to mature a lot and is the reason I am going to be able to play college hockey this season,” said Schiffmann.
